About the Team Workday is looking for an outstanding Software Development Engineer to join our Tools Performance Engineering team! Performance Engineers are highly skilled engineers who debug, measure, analyze, and improve our Workday software. They are generalists with deep technical understanding of software, distributed systems, cloud computing, cloud technologies, deployment, hardware, networking, and the Internet.They enjoy taking a holistic view of complex systems. Application Performance is achieved by working closely with all our engineering teams throughout the release cycle. Our ultimate goal is application performance that yields an excellent end user experience and scales to meet Software as a Service Infrastructure needs. About the Role In addition to an enjoyment of a collaborative, open and encouraging working environment, you will:Collaborate with Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers and Product Managers to influence architectural changes in the product based that provide real scalability, low latency, and high availability and resiliencyDevelop prototypes in various layers of workday stack which propose alternate solutions to existing performance issues.Build tools to expedite, enhance and ease multiple aspects of performance analysis.Play pivotal role in debugging, analyzing, quantifying complex production issuesParticipate in escalations to drive the technical conversationsCharacterize Performance, Scalability and Resiliency to stakeholders About You Basic Qualifications: (must have experience) 5+ years experience developing in Java.5+ experience using Linux / Unix3+ years experience in cloud related technologies (AWS / GCP / AZURE)Experience in object oriented programming experience. Other Qualifications: (preferred, but no essential) Experience working with AI and/ or Machine LearningExperience working with Chaos Engineering.Experience with Data Science and Big Data technologies, Hadoop, Spark, HiveExperience with operations or scalability study of large scale distributed systems.Web Application Development, Application Servers Tomcat, Web Services development experience (SOAP or REST)Experience with micro services architecture or Distributed ProgrammingExperience in Observability stack such as ELK, Grafana, SplunkExperience with Automation and profiling tools such as SOAPUI, Postman, Jmeter, Loadrunner, Gatling, JProfiler, Jconsole, and system tools vmstat/topExperience with Performance, Load, Stress, and Scalability EvaluationSQL skills or equivalent experienceBachelors' or Masters' degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field or equivalent years of experience Our Approach to Flexible Work With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
